Water Pieces

'Water Pieces' is a four-piece suite for solo guitar with the theme of ocean and river journeys. Water is the original traveller, constantly moving, sculpting, transforming and migrating. Each piece displays a different style and mood and allows for expressive playing.

The pieces are:

1. 'In the Wake of the King' - the king tide attacks and retreats, leaving its coastal renovations in its wake. Changing tone and dynamics feature in this piece.
2. 'Trickle' - a quiet moment gliding on calm waters, punctuated by the gentle sound of droplets returning to their source.
3. 'Portrait of a Ship's Cat' - inspired by 'Trim', Matthew Flinders favourite ship's cat who travelled the globe with him. It is full of the movements, sounds and habits of our furry feline friends. (Also available to purchase as a separate piece.)
4. 'Jig of the Tell-Tail' - the tell-tail (or tell-tale) is a small but important piece of cloth on the sail of a boat that dances a merry jig when the wind is up and alerts the sailor to changes in wind direction and strength.
